Welcome to Spain
In summer the beaches and resort areas of the immediate area offer a
wide variety of holiday choices. Sitges which is located only 30 minutes
south of Barcelona and the equivalent of our Key West is one excellent
choice. And only a 30 min. flight or 8 hour ferry ride away are the
Balearic Islands, and one of our favorite islands IBIZA . This
Mediterranean island paradise offers everything you could dream of for a
fantastic holiday in the Spanish sun.
While nightlife in Barcelona is unlimited in it's scope of choices,
and the restaurants of this Catalan capital offer you the finest in
cuisine to suit every flavor. The center of Barcelona is the cites heartbeat. Here you will find "The
Ramblas" the busiest walking street in the city. Sometimes called "The most
beautiful street in the world." And when you arrive you'll see why.
It's length spans the distance from the beautiful port with it's many
restaurants, marinas, sea aquarium, and the brand new IMAX theatre, and
continues to the Placa de Catalunya. The Ramblas is almost 2 kms long and
filled with many sights and sounds both day and night. It is a never
ending show where everyone is both the actor and the audience.
The blvd. is filled with clowns, magicians, and street acts that give
travelers a never-ending show. Be sure to stop in one of the many sidewalk
cafes that line the center of the Ramblas and enjoy a day of some fantastic
people watching.
Markets are also a great place to sample the culture of a city. There
are small cafes and restaurants located inside the market where you can
stop to have lunch, a coffee, or just watch and listen to the "buzz" of
activity. Not your typical tourist trap activity.
