Sea Cloud

Sailing the Mediterranean Sea with the grandeur of days long gone, but not forgotten. This is truly the majesty of the sea. Sea Cloud is one of the last, big sailors of the world. She is the largest sailing ship ever built. She is 360 feet long by 50 feet wide. The teak decks and her massive size offer spacious freedom below the towering mast that looms into the skies above. Sea Cloud offers the opportunity, to a small number of passengers, to experience seafaring in its original form, under 32,000 sq ft. of billowing sails.

The wind, plus the 4 powerful engines of Sea Cloud generate 6,000 horsepower to drive the ship. While of course, Sea Cloud uses the wind when it is available and as much as possible. But in case of "calms", or, "winds off the bow", little will slow this ship in its punctuality. The engines alone will drive the ship at a comfortable 12 knots.

Relaxing on the Sea Cloud when she is under sail is the ultimate vacation experience. The only sound to be heard when under sail, is the soft creaking of the mast and lines singing against the force of the wind. The rich wood interior of the salons and romantic cabins below await your arrival. The feeling is of a time seen only on the big screen.

SEA CLOUDS HISTORY. Sea Cloud was built in 1930-31. Sea Cloud was a dream come true for the American dream couple; millionaires Marjorie Merriweather Post and Edward F. Hutton. After many years of preparations and 12 months of in building in Kiel Germany, the ship slid down the ways chrisened as "Hussar". Hussar or now Sea Cloud, was and still is the most luxurious sailing yacht that ever sailed the seas.

Today, the Sea Cloud sails along the worlds most beautiful coastlines, turning her passengers into devotees of such fine sailing. Sea Cloud is a life experience.....and she's waiting for you to board.
