Hotel Semell
At Mykonos, the name Semeli reminds us of beauty and harmony. These two
words combined together gives us an aura of what Semeli Hotel is all about.
The infamous daughter of Cadmus and Harmony was Dionysus' mother. Zeus fell
in love with her beauty and approach her in the form of rain.
His jealous wife Hera transformed Zeus into a governess and deceived Semeli
by convincing her to ask Zeus to appear before her in all her glory. Hera's
wish was fulfilled, and as a result Semeli was thunderstruck since Zeus
appeared before her surrounded by lightning and thunder.
Just before she died, Semeli brought Dionysus to life who after growing up, descended to the Nether world and brought Semeli back to life making her his inseparable companion ever since. He also included her in his theatrical ensemble together with the Satyrs, Seilens and Bacheans. In Mykonos, Dionysus and Semeli were the most worshipped Olympian Gods.
Oh, you sweet mother of wine, drunkenness, joy and Dionysus' mother» was
the myth ever to become reality which would take place only in Mykonos, the
island of Semeli, the ancient nymph.
So, we created a place of relaxation and friendly atmosphere with unique
elegance and aesthetically impeccable in the heart of Mykonos capital
employing our imagination and soul to direct our hands.
As you cross the paved narrow street of the hotel, among the small white
houses you feel the real architecture becoming one with nature. The colors,
stones, bushes and trees all come together with the sea. The sky and the
sunlight make feel home away from home.
Walking through the old entrance door, you are overwhelmed by the simplicity
as well as the familiarity of the place which aims at making you feel
completely at home. This is enhanced by our friendly personnel who are
willing to be of service to our visitors out of a deep sense of hospitality.
We focused our attempt on creating a place characterized by the
authenticity of insular nobility and by modern facilities with absolute respect
to the elements surrounding us, bearing in mind the old craftsmen's skills. As
a result, the hotel complex is successfully integrated into Mykonos'
traditional settlement in terms of the island's color and style.
Creating our own space and giving it a personal touch and color is something
that requires love and enthusiasm. Although the decorative style is uniformed
throughout the hotel, every single part of it has its own identity thus
creating a cozy and homely atmosphere.
The old stately house that already existed was renovated without losing any
of its personality. Its old pieces of furniture were used along with the new
ones that were carefully selected forming the wonderful rooms where our
visitors can enjoy our unique breakfast-buffet, and taste our exquisite cuisine
served here at our hotel.
